Upcoming Educational Opportunities
With possible amendments coming as soon as July 1, 2020, there is no time like the present to attend one (or more) of the many great educational opportunities scheduled for the coming months. If you have the time attending a conference will likely get you more bang for your buck. If not, you can still learn about important condo issues by attending one of the shorter sessions. Here are some of the events that I'm looking forward to the most in the coming months:
March 6, 2020 - CCI Golden Horseshoe Chapter's Conference in Burlington.
- The one day conference includes presentations by many experts in the industry - managers, engineers, lawyers and others - as well as a few community resource experts. The last session is the legal panel, which I'll be participating in along with Robert Mullin (SV Law, moderator), Patricia Elia (Elia & Associates), Erik Savas (Simpson Wigle), and Chris Jaglowitz (Common Ground Condo Law). We will cover recent cases, proposed amendments, and other important condo law issues.
- The new one day conference format includes an exclusive condo manager session in the early morning followed by a conference open to all members and non-members. The conference gets started with a legal debate with Maria Finoro (MF Property Management) acting as moderator. I will be involved in the legal debate along with lawyers Robert Mullin (SV Law) and Patricia Elia (Elia & Associates). Following a short break there will be 2 sessions (with 3 topics to choose from during each session, including Rapid Fire Engineering and other popular topics). The conference includes lunch, time with the exhibitors, and ends with an "Ask the Experts" session that includes managers, engineers, auditors, and lawyers answering questions from the audience. Be sure to bring your questions!
- Back by popular demand is the ACMO/CCI-London & Area one day Conference and Tradeshow. This event includes great educational opportunities with experts in a variety of areas. It usually includes plenty of time to meet exhibitors and learn about new products and services for condos in the area. More details should be available soon so keep checking back!
- This session is one of the most popular of the year. It starts with brief presentations from the panel of lawyers on a variety of condo law topics (i.e. recent cases, amendments, and common problems), but the real fun begins after the presentations are finished. The panel opens the floor and takes questions from the audience. I hope to see you out at this event too!
