Consultation on Further Amendments to the Condominium Act, 1998

The Ontario government is soliciting feedback on proposed amendments to the Condominium Act, 1998, and its regulations. Specifically, the government is looking at bringing into force certain amendments under the Protecting Condominium Owners Act, 2015, including those related to:

  • Status certificates
  • Disclosure statements
  • Cancellation of purchase agreements for material changes
  • Developer turnover meetings
  • Condominium performance audits
  • Waiving remedies against developers.

The government is also looking at making changes to the dreadful proxy forms (yippee!). There is also mention of changes made to record access with a note about increasing condo safety, which makes me think it relates to personal information about directors or other owners perhaps.
